visit the asylum
for a night of lost time and unforgettable memories

The Asylum is a tribute to my lifelong love for alternative rock, mainly drawing inspiration from punk and grunge culture throughout the '70s, '80s, and '90s.
It's about music that emphasizes raw emotional release, urgency, and passion over precision and polish.
I wanted to capture the visceral energy exchange between performers and their audience, displaying intensity, expression, and temporary escapism.

Welcome to The Asylum Universe.

The Asylum is just the beginning. This world will continue to grow over time with new glimpses into the lives that pass through it.

behind the scenes

enter the madness

The Asylum was brought to life frame-by-frame through stop-motion animation, capturing every movement of each doll/object to create the illusion of motion.

The bar’s gritty atmosphere was handmade using mainly cardboard and acrylic paint with some found objects, to capture the beauty and ugliness of underground venues.

music

The Asylum is shaped by the rough, explosive energy of punk/grunge - music that emphasizes emotional release over technical complexity.

Influences include Nirvana, Bikini Kill, Babes in Toyland, L7, Hole, The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Bad Brains, Black Flag etc.
